| Polish Officers Federation negotiates new deal for wounded veterans |
|
(Sep 2009) The representative association of Polish officers "KONWENT" has taken a key role in negotiating a new deal for wounded personnel. Poland has enacted a law that guarantees that any wounded mission veteran can be designated to a new post in service, provided he meets the requirements and wishes to stay in the military service. KONWENT drew on best practice in other European countries, particularly Germany where a new law had been passed in 2007. Colonel Anatol Tichoniuk, a serving regular officer who is President of KONWENT and is also a member of the EUROMIL Board and well known to BAFF, has written about the negotiations for the EUROMIL website: KONWENT, the Council of Senior Officers of the Corps of Regular Soldiers, is officially recognised as a representative association for serving personnel. KONWENT was founded in 1990 and joined EUROMIL in 2004. |
